Fallingwater

Yesterday Clint and I took a little day trip to Fallingwater, Frank Llyod Wright's great architectural masterpiece. It was really incredible! I have been wanting to go see it ever since I moved out here to Ohio, it is about 4 hours away in Millrun Pennsylvania. ( or as my navigator would say, pennslyvanier) We both really loved it. It was quite an impressive structure, and just another testament that a well designed piece of architecture can be the most awe inspiring form of art there is. Unfortunately, most architecture is crap. It was really facinating to see how much attention to detail Wright gave to everything. Everything is custom made and specific to the design of fallingwater, there is no way you would just go to lowes and pick out a certain sized window to fit. Wright really took architecture to a new level. Imagine living in a house that was a complete aesthetic experience. Wright also had a disdain for clutter, so things were designed accordingly, in fact he hated garages for that reason, they provided a place to accumulate clutter, he prefered car ports! I thought that was a really interesting idea. Perhaps the most incredible part of fallingwater is that nature and architecture are combined nearly seemlessly. from inside the house, you are surrounded by beautiful views of the woods, and can hear the flow of water, and from outside, you can see how Wright carefully designed fallingwater very specifically to be harmonious with the site. It was such a fun trip.

Here is my silly fiance trying to test his endurance in the freezing cold river. I lasted about 30 seconds. Clint made it to 15 minutes and would have stayed there all day, if he could. Afterwords he kept bragging about how his legs felt like a million bucks and he is going to do that more often! We always have a great time on our little trips and can't wait for many many more.
