This little boy is just so stinking handsome! Could he possibly get any cuter? It is so hard to believe it has now been 18 months since Thomas began. And even harder to believe he is as old as a pregnancy. It seems like pregnancy just lasts forever!!!! This has been an interesting month for little Thomas. (And by extension for me too!) On our trip out to Utah, Thomas caught a nasty nasty stomach flu. Poor little guy got pretty sick and dehydrated so we ended up spending three nights in the ER and the rest of the trip sick in bed. And to make it worse, the virus was extremely contagious so everyone who had contact with him caught the virus too. (To date 10 people in my family including me and Clint!) And from experience of having the dreaded virus, I can tell you it was bad! It made me feel even worse to think that little Thomas had to go through it. He was really very good and brave through the whole ordeal. I'm sure any of you parents can attest that seeing your little one completely helpless and sick is a really horrible feeling. I couldn't even stay in the room when they were giving him the IV! Luckily his Grandpa Ned was right by his side. We were lucky to be surrounded by such great family when Thomas got sick. They really helped us a lot. Grandpa and Grandma Allred were very kind and caring towards me and Thomas, as were all of the Mackay family. It was hard being away from Clint and I know he had a hard time not being able to see Thomas, but he helped us out from long distance as well. We were also lucky to have Clint good friend Bryce help us out. Bryce was Clint's roomate in med school, and is currently a resident at the hospital we went to. He was kind enough to stay with us until 2 am! It was so nice to have a doctor there who just stayed and sat with us and helped reassure us of everything, and it was even nicer to have an old friend help lighten the mood. So if you read this thanks again Bryce!Thomas is feeling better now and back to his crazy energetic self! But throughout the ordeal it really showed what a very good natured little boy Thomas is. He really is just a happy little guy. And even though he wasn't his 100% fun loving self, I think both sets of his grandparents just couldn't get enough of this sweet little guy, so even though our trip was a disaster, I am still glad we went and that they all got to see Thomas at this fun stage of his life. (I just wish they didn't all end up throwing up after!)
So without further adieu, here are some other things that Thomas has been up to this month
Thomas loves to help out with the laundry. That is, if helping out means pulling out every item one by one and throwing it behind his back! Silly little guy.
The fun doesn't stop there! He also loves emptying drawers!
Who me? Couldn't be!
Just before Thomas got sick he got to see the baby cows with his Grandma and Grandpa Allred. He was as curious as could be.
Thomas has recently discovered that his voice can echo. He holds cups and bowls up to his mouth and yells to hear the sound. Its pretty cute! So of course he was loving this mega phone. He has also shown an early preference to BYU.
Little man just wears himself out playing so hard. He wears me out too! Seriously!
What a sweet little man!Other things of note:
- Thomas loves to walk behind his toy wagon and looks pretty cute doing it
- Thomas give his mom sweet and slobbery kisses on the cheek
- Thomas loves turning the pages of his books
- Thomas continues to be a terrible little eater. That combined with the weight he lost during his bout with the stomach flu put him at a whopping 16 lbs 9 oz. (Which is less than what he weighed at his 6 month appointment.) Basically the only food that I have found that he will consistently eat are Mangos and Apples. Meal time is a really big mess, and usually by the end of the day Thomas is just sticky and gross no matter what! Feeding Thomas might be my least favorite part of motherhood. (That and the fact that I look like a frump all the time and my house is a mess)
- Thomas has a very strong attraction to electrical cords. Well pretty much anything hazardous Thomas finds. In fact in the course of writing this blog I have had to stop several times to pull him away from one thing or another.

We loved having him there. It was extra sweet to get to see him first thing in the morning when he woke up. He is a happy little guy.
And he was so sick that he would just drop off to sleep on my shoulder. That's not gonna happen again anytime soon, but it was nice.
He looks so cute in that suit! Can't you just see the missionary tag on him?
I really wished I could see him, he is so cute! I love that suit on him! I'm sorry your trip was nasty, hopefully you'll get to go again soon and not be sick the whole time.
I had NO idea he got that sick. I can't imagine how hard it was for you guys. It must have been a lifesaver to have Bryce there. He is such a little guy, 16 lbs!! I love your posts. I should have been better about writing monthly updates. Time just flies by.
I love this kid.
Check out that outfit...what a little stud! SO sad I didn't get to see you while you were in town :( Come back again soon! Miss you!
I love that suit. He's such a cutie. Those pictures were so adorable. He's a sweet little guy. I hate meal times too. Babies get soooo messy and they hate being cleaned up! Plus, they destroy more food than they eat (mushing it up and throwing it all over the place).
If it helps, I usually look like a frump and my house is a mess too!
