All in a days work

i've been a bit of a slacker at this blogging thing lately...In part because now I am a working girl...

Here I am all packed up to go to work at Marathon Petroleum. (And no, I don't actually have to wear that fire resistant jumpsuit everyday) Who would have thought that after getting my MFA I would be doing temp work at a oil terminal. Well the crippling economy and six months of unemployment make you do strange things, and the truth is, I am happy and lucky to have a job period! I will say it has been quite an experience.... The lady I work with decided to start calling me Annie. She just decided she liked it better then Laurie. (and better than Anna). Then we got a new boss, and he started calling me Annie, shortly after mostly everyone there refers to me as Annie, regardless of the fact that I answer the phone, "Marathon, this is Laurie." So now I'm Annie the Oil girl. Not something I could have ever imagined, but why try to fight it? Mom, remember in Jr High when The teachers started calling me Al because the role had my initials A.L. and I didn't pipe up? Its kinda like that...

Well we've been getting a lot of snow lately. In fact, we are only 4 inches away from the snowiest February in Columbus History! So even though I am sick of it and hate it, may as well get the extra 4 inches so I can really complain.....Anyhow. One day I decided to wait outside for my hubby til he came home from work...and look what happened!

Just kidding, That is just Burl, our 500 pound snow man. He has changed a lot since the day he entered this world. Mostly, he has just become shorter and squattier, which is probably what happens to most people as they age. The other day, Clint has so angry at the snow that I feared for poor Burl's life. But being the gentle and patient man he is, he spared Burl.

and that is just a day in the life....

I worked at a job once for two months where they called me Jody. Sometimes it's just not worth it to put up a fight! Annie, it is then!

I am amazed that Clint didn't kick that snowman to h*** after his 8 hour commute stuck in the snow the other day.

Oh, and I resent the shorter and squattier remark!

Laurie you crack me up! I miss your wit and sense of humor. When you were talking about Burl (by the way, who names their snowman burl?) it made me miss our college days. Snow and all :)

I think I see a fruitful future ahead for you in the field of oil and trucking. You wear that hat like a pro, Annie! You know, I think Annie is a cute name...but you're not an Annie...you're a Laurie!

That's a pretty cool snow man. I was driving to the library a couple of months ago and someone had a snow giraffe and lion in their yard! The giraffe was the size of a baby giraffe, but it was still as tall as the lamp post next to it. Pretty neat!

I bet you could find a great song on one of those cd's I gave you, (at your shower), to go with that outfit... lol

Also, speaking of being called Annie, I am still bugged that your phone phone sends me to the voice box of "Anna Laurie". When did you start using your correct name anyways? I think I am just going to call you Annie. "Annie"!
