I just read a little article my mom posted about mistakes parents make without knowing it. One of those mistakes was not documenting enough. I think I tend to fall in this category. I'm just not one of those moms that brings a camera everywhere. And when I do take pictures, they often turn out blurry (like the above shot) So today, I figured as a way to avoid working on my actual work, I would be justified in blogging a little update on Thomas. This week Thomas will be 20 months old! Only 4 more until he is 2 years old. Time just gets away from you so quickly. Little Thomas has changed a lot in the last few month since I updated on him. He is talking a lot! He has even started putting words together, like "more snack" and "lincoln's bed" and most recently he says "love you!" (pronounced ya you in Thomas speak). Yesterday he realized milk had a K at the end of it. He had be saying "Mil" now its, "milKKKK" and the facination with the added k also has tacked onto other words. "BooKKKK", "snacKKKK", "MaMaKKKK? "Yeah I might be called Mamak for a few days.
Thomas has always been an independent little soul, but that independence is just getting stronger. The little man will no longer sit in his high chair, but prefers to sit at the head of the table. He is still a picky little eater, but he has no problems feeding his Papa whatever is on the plate.
He has also started refusing to let me sit in the rocking chair with him. Instead, he sits in the chair and I sit on the floor!
A while ago Thomas learned to give hugs when you asked for them. It was the cutest thing ever, but it only lasted a few days before he realized he could say no. So now 9/10 you ask for a hug and he says quite matter of factly, "no." But when he gives you a hug it is so sweet!
Thomas has also started to count, well sort of! He mostly goes ah, two, ba, ma, etc. But he always gets 2 and nine! For some reason he especially likes nine. He always yells NINE! when we count.
Thomas has a very keen sense of direction. I may have already mentioned this. But he knows EXACTLY where his favorite things are in the neighborhood. He knows what direction the library is, and where his friend Lincoln lives, where the digger and tractor are, etc. He is very observant. If he snuck out of the house he would know exactly how to walk to his little friend's house five minutes away. One day we were driving to pick up his friend, and I told him this as a way to get him to cooperate with getting into the car. But what I had forgotten was that we had to get gas first. And of course the gas station is in the opposite direction. He was not happy.
Thomas is very observant. If he hears even the faintest firetruck siren he gets very excited and yells "Cyarcuck" or firetruck. One day while he was taking a nap on long drive to Cincinnati he was fast asleep when the Thomas the Train song came on the radio. He perked up and said, "ChooChoo!" and then went right back to sleep. He is so funny.
The little man's favorite things of the moment: firetrucks, diggers, and tractors of course. Often times the first thing out of his mouth in the morning is "digger" then he says, "mama??" Glad to know I am the second thing he thinks about. He is such a sweet little boy and very good natured. He is really just like his dad and he loves to do whatever his dad does. I am lucky to have such easy going fun guys to be around all the time. Although a few weeks ago when I was changing Thomas's diaper he peed on me and started laughing VERY hard. That has me worried :)
Thomas got a visit this week from his Grandpa Mackay. Of course I forgot to take pictures! The little boy warmed right up to his grandpa. He kept saying "g'pa! g'pa!" He was showing off all of his tricks. When Granpa was leaving he gave Thomas a $50 dollar bill for him to get some dumpers and diggers. He showed Thomas this pictures of Pres. Grant and said, "Look Thomas, its Grant! Just like your grandpa's name." Thomas pointed to the picture and said, "g'pa!" And the next day he carried the bill around saying "g'pa! g'pa!" So we got these fun earth-movers for him and he has been playing with them non-stop. He kept saying "A BIG Truck!" Or as Thomas would pronounce it, "a BICK Truck!" Love this little boy!

Ah, I remember Grandma Vivian telling me to write it all down, that I would forget. But I've always had a stellar memory...until now. And it is amazing what you forget.
Good job at documenting Mom. :)
oh yay! I just can not wait to see you and the little man!
What a cute, sweet guy. Lots of cute stories!
