more thomasisms

One day past my due date, Thomas got an ear infection. He was screaming and inconsolable and in a lot of pain.  He kept saying, "There is water in my ear" And "I Need go baby doctor!" When Clint came home from work I had him look at Thomas to see if we needed to take him. Thomas didn't want Clint to examine him, and said, "No! Baby Doctor!" So we tried to explain to Thomas that when Clint goes to work he is a doctor too. He wasn't convinced. Clint called one of his pediatrician friends to confirm what he thought and we told Thomas that papa called a baby doctor and that he was going to be okay. This made him feel a little better.  Finally the little man fell asleep in the big bed with me after we gave him some tylenol.  I was sleeping kind of lightly expecting him to wake up in pain during the night, when at about 4:00 he woke up, stood up in the bed and said, "I'm all better!" Then he proceeded to sing his rendition of Yankee doodle.  What a funny little boy!

This isn't a great picture, as I just used my dinky cell phone picture, but it is good enough to illustrate this story.  One morning when Thomas woke up I carried him to the  couch so he could watch his morning cartoons while I got ready for the day. He stood up on the couch and pointed to my pictures on the wall. From right to left he said, "This ones a horse, this ones a prophet and this ones a big, big mess." I could not stop laughing!

-Thomas says the funniest things! His new phrase that he says several times a day is "Sorry Mom. Didn't mean to do that." He got into trouble in nursery for pushing the little kids. When we talked to him about it at home he said, "They made me so mad! I didn't mean to do that. Sorry Papa."

-Today he wanted a drink of my grapefruit soda and so I obliged knowing he wouldn't like it. He took a sip and said, " Hey, this has bubbles. Makes  my tummy hurt. That makes me very, very sad." And he said it with a very straight face and happy little voice, so he wasn't actually really that sad.

-We went to story time at the library and the librarian was reading a story with different modes of transportation. There was a picture of a blimp and I said, look at that balloon to Thomas. He sternly said, "No Mom. Thats a Blimp."

-We went to the museum to see my work one last time. We were looking around at some other pieces in the exhibit when some people approached my work. Thomas said, "hey you don't touch mommy's pictures!"

-Clint rode his bike to work and got home all hot and sweaty. He came to give Thomas a hug and Thomas said, "take a shower Papa. You smell bad!" I busted up!

- Speaking of this, one night I said to Thomas, "Thomas you need a bath!" To which he replied, "I smell bad. Like Papa smells bad." That one made me laugh out loud

- Thomas is scared of Thunderstorms. When he hears thunder he says, "What was that noise?!" And then goes to get in the big bed to read stories and cuddle. I secretly like when there are thunderstorms for this reason.  We had a big thunderstorm one day and Thomas said, "Caroline's a little bit nervous." So he shared his firetruck blanket with her in the big bed. I just love that little man.

We took a trip to Kirtland with my Dad. The sister missionaries asked Thomas if he would like to get baptized in the creek. He said, "No! I'm too little! I'm too little! I can't go in that water, I'm too little!"

We had a little lunch after Caroline's baby blessing. Thomas abruptly said, "I want some vegetables. I might like them!" So Clint put some vegetables on his plate and of course he didn't even try them. The next day he said, "I don't like vegetables."

Thomas helped me make some pasta salad the other day. He helped stir in all the ingredients and then he decided to add a handful of cinnamon and sugar. Ick! I rinsed the pasta off, but i think there was still a bit of residual flavor.

Then he decided to add the cardboard paper towel tube, at which point he exclaimed, "PERFECT!" I guess that is the finishing touch for the perfect pasta salad....Oh and of course he didn't eat any of it.

That is all for this installment....I am sure we will have many others!
