Thomas turns 5!

The cutest little boy I know turned 5 years old (about a month ago now!) He is such a fun, energetic, charismatic, smart, silly, friendly, sweet, tender, curious and loving little boy. The list goes on and on. Truthfully there are not enough adjectives to describe Thomas. He is truly one of a kind. Oh I forgot loud. He is a very LOUD little boy. He is constantly making siren sounds around the house. Anyone who calls me can usually hear them in the background. It probably sounds like a crime scene really. It  seems hard to believe that its been five years since Thomas joined our family. He pretty much changed the whole dynamic of my entire life! And I am pretty grateful to him for that. (Although I will be the first to admit, this boy makes me WORK!) He is such and outgoing and friendly little boy, he really makes friends so easily, and he is quite social. Everyone loves him! Sometimes it is a bit of a head scratcher to me being an introvert raising an extrovert. Thomas really can not stand to do things by himself or have any kind of alone time or down time whatsoever. He likes to be surrounded by people and with people all the time.

He is doing very well with pre school. He thrives with structured learning and the socializing school provides. His teachers always have glowing reports about how well he is doing and how enthusiastic he is about learning. He has started to learn to read, and loves books and he is really good at Math. He thinks of it like a game. Clint will give him "challenges" at dinner time, and he is really good and working through them.

He is a very good big brother to Caroline, though he does like to pester her and make her squeal. I think that is just part of being a brother. They love being obnoxious! But he is very excited about having a baby brother to "show off all his tricks" to.

Thomas is a very special boy. He is a leader and a friend and someone that strives to right. He has his moments like all little boys, but he really is just a very good hearted and sweet little boy. I am so grateful to be his mother. He teaches me new things everyday and I am so impressed with the little boy that he is growing up to be. I know he is capable and destined to do great things!

A few things about Thomas at 5

His favorite color is Red and Blue
His favorite tv show is Rescue Bots and Mighty Machines ( He still LOVES trucks!)
His favorite food is  graham crackers, and any kind of sweet He is still an extremely picky eater. sigh.
He LOVES firetrucks, rescue vehicles, policemen, etc.
He REALLY LOVES playing with his dad. They are best buds and it is so so cute to watch them play together. I lucked out giving my kids such an awesome father

Here are a few recent funny Thomasisms:

He originally decided that we should name our baby Macaroni. Now that is just about all the kids call him. We explained to him that we couldn't actually name a child that and he suggested how about we name him Reddick Thomas Allred? we laughed and told him that was his special name. So he came up with the name Blade Maverick Allred. Blade is the name of a helicopter in Fire and Resuce (his favorite movie) and Maverick because he likes going to maverick to get blue drinks with his dad. Ha ha the other day though when Clint said we were going to name the baby Blade Maverick Thomas said, "No! Im going to name my child that!" so i guess its off the table.

Leading up to Thomas' birthday I would fake cry every night to him that he was growing up to fast. He would laugh and laugh and then he would say, "Don't worry mom, I'll still be your baby. Until i turn 99 then I won't be your baby anymore."

Thomas is pretty proud of his social popularity. He told me one day, "Mom, I have 100 friends. You only have 4 friends. Me, Caroline, Papa and Grammy."

One day while potty training Caroline, she had a little accident. Thomas said, "Its okay Caroline. Everyone has accidents. I do. Santa does..."

Here is the little fella on his big day. He was pretty excited about it. We got him more legos!
And a few fire truck books.
My skills as a cake decorator are seriously lacking. Seriously. You think with my creative abilities I would whip out these awesome cakes. They are always kind of sad looking. Caroline REALLY wanted to help with this one and she smushed that helicopter into the cake pretty good.
The boy didn't care! All a cake needs is sugar and a small toy on top to make a kid happy!
We had worked so hard planning a birthday party for Thomas. Seriously he had been planning it for months! and then the night before his party he came down with croup and we had to reschedule it! It was so sad! the little guys took the bad news fairly well though and a few of his friends were still able to make it to the second party date.

These looked a lot cuter on pinterest! ha!

Clint reading the kids a little firetruck book before we started the games!
Pin the siren on the firetruck
A little bean bag toss to put out the fires.
The kids had to crawl under the "flames" to rescue stuffed animals.
 And of course a piƱata!
These aren't really tied to his birthday, but I had to include them on here! Clint made a little Family Home evening night telling the story of Lehi's dream with legos. He is the best Dad ever! Thomas of course loved it.  He really loves having family night! He keeps a pretty good attention to the lessons and things, he just loves having structured learning!  I love that cute little boy of mine!

That burning building bean bag toss is so cute! Your parties are always so cute and detailed. Happy (belated) birthday to Thomas!
