This little girl is growing up too fast for my liking. Its hard to believe she is 2 and a half now. I just wish I could freeze time with Caroline. Although, I have wished that at every stage of her developments. So really I wish I could have ten Caroline's in all their stages around me every day. She is so pleasant and such a joy. The older she gets the more I can see that she and I are going to be best friends, whether she likes it or not! Especially with the new baby boy coming. Its just me and Caroline in the girl corner!
Here are a few updates and stories about our little sweetheart
One day I got out my tripod to take pictures of my artwork for a grant proposal. Caroline quickly decided that she would make a much more interesting subject for the camera and kept saying, "Take my picture! Take my picture!" She was right of course.
I love when she gives her cheesy smile.
Caroline is smart as can be. Its incredible to watch her developing. Her vocabulary is beyond what most children her age are using and her reasoning and memory are pretty amazing too. I was impressed that she could do this little puzzle that we got her for Christmas all by herself. We recently worked on potty training the little lady. While we are not out of the woods yet, she has done very well and she earned herself this little dress-up. Caroline LOVES playing dress up. She loves shoes, jewelry, make-up, purses, you name it! She is quite the little girly girl. She has a little drawer in her room that she puts all of her jewelry in. She calls it her "collection"
While Thomas is at school I get to enjoy a little one on one time with Caroline when she doesn't nap. She is just so sweet and so much fun to have around. She never gives me much trouble.
She helped me block print some fabric the other day. She kept saying, "I am working very hard!" and "This is my pink paint and nobody can take it!"
Along with dressing up like a princess, she also loves dressing down and wearing her "Mowgli Diaper" She is so funny!
Along with her brother, she loves sheet changing day. It has become quite the olympic event around here.
Little Caroline melts our hearts with how nurturing she is. She is always taking care of her little dollies.
ALL of them!
Sleep over party with the baby dolls! One day I got a catalog in the mail with little children clothes. Caroline leafed through the pages saying things like, "Oh! Maybe I could wear this dress!" and "This one is cute!" ha ha it gave me a good chuckle. I think we may be in trouble come the teenage years. She's only 2!
Caroline loves singing to the princess songs. One day she was singing the Cinderella song. The lyrics to the song go like this, "In dreams you will lose your heartache.." Caroline sang, "In dreams you will lose your heart rate..." Sounds like the daughter of a cardiologist to me
After we put her to bed one night we had thought she was asleep, when about 30 minutes later we heard her saying a little prayer to herself. Cutest thing ever. She prayed for that baby to be healthy and said that she was thankful for her swimming lessons among other things. Little heart of gold.
One sunday we woke up and I told Caroline it was church day. She sprung to her closet and said, "Oh what should I wear?"
One day at dinner time I called the kids up to eat. Caroline came running and said, "Here come hungry children!"
Our neighbor was in her elementary school play of the jungle book. I took the kids along to see it. Caroline was really into it, and especially for how young she is, she was paying extra close attention. At the end of the play they left out the song where the little girl sings about fetching the water. I could see Caroline's face turn red. She was NOT HAPPY. She kept waiting for them to sing this song, but when the play was obviously over she just lost it and broke into tears. She kept saying, "No! I want to keep watching! It isn't over!"
Caroline has her dad wrapped around her finger. She used to say to him, "Papa, you are my girl." She has outgrown that one and I miss it! She'll also say to him, " Papa, I like pink and purple. You like brown." He will retort, "No i like pink." And she will get fired up and say, "NO! Papa! You like brown!"
Try as we might, we haven't been able to stop Caroline from sucking her thumbs. One day I said, "Can I try that thumb?" and she said to me, "You've got your own thumbs!"
I love when I get dressed for church on Sundays because Caroline is so complimentary. She always awes over me and says, "Mama! You look like a princess!"
The other day she said to Thomas, "Thomas, do you like my dress?" no reply. "THOMAS? do you like my dress" no reply. this went on for a minute then she said, "Thomas? Are you even listening to me?"
Love this sweet little girly girl of ours.
